The Mingara Drive and Tumbi Road Intersection Upgrade involved the replacement of existing roundabouts with traffic lights to improve traffic flow and safety and cater for future traffic growth within the area.

The project also involved widening of Wyong Road on both sides and relocating property boundary fences back into private property that had been resumed by RMS, this scope of works involved a significant amount of property adjustments and direct stakeholder management by the project team. During peak hours the heavily congested Wyong Road intersection would see 48,000 vehicles per day, linking Wyong, Tuggerah, The Entrance and surrounding coastal suburbs to the M1 Pacific Motorway.

Works included the construction of roadworks, general earthworks, clearing and grubbing vegetation within private property, pavements, drainage, retaining walls, major utility adjustments (Telstra, Optus, TPG, NBN, Jemena, Overhead High Voltage, Water and Sewer), provision of traffic signals, road furniture, landscaping, provision for bus, pedestrian and cyclist facilities and property adjustments.

The key benefits of this upgrade include

  • Travel time and safety improved for traffic traveling from the M1 to the Entrance/Terrigal and vice versa
  • Property Adjustments provide safer access/egress for residents and businesses.
  • New/Improved shared pathways/crossings improve safety for pedestrians/cyclists
  • CMC ranked 2nd on price and 1st on price plus non-price criteria
