ESG

CMC respects the communities and protects the environments in which we work, while striving to operate sustainably and responsibly as a business.

We are embedding Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) across our company operations and project delivery models to achieve improved sustainability and community outcomes.

Our ESG commitment covers:
  • environmental management
  • sustainable procurement
  • waste management
  • water conservation
  • energy efficiency, including carbon emission reduction
  • supporting supply chain partners to meet ESG standards
  • local industry and Indigenous participation
  • being an equal opportunity employer that provides a flexible and inclusive workplace.

We have taken steps to:

  • regularly upgrade our fleet of heavy plant and equipment, including with more energy efficient vehicles such as Caterpillar’s next generation excavators
  • upgrade our mobile project site vans with a mix of solar panels and lithium batteries to reduce their reliance on diesel generators where possible by 100 per cent
  • work towards obtaining project ratings from the Infrastructure Sustainability Council
  • advance reconciliation through our company Reconciliation Action Plan (Innovate stage)
  • support the local communities in which we work through our Thirst for a Legacy and Containers for Change initiative to support grassroots community projects.
