Pacific Motorway Upgrade, Mudgeeraba To Varsity Lakes Early Works

CMC was awarded the Pacific Motorway Upgrade, Mudgeeraba to Varsity Lakes Early Works project in July 2017 by the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

The project involved the removal and reconstruction of noise fencing, construction of an access track, RCBC culvert crossing, PUP relocations (services included but not limited to telecommunications and sewer), supply of ITS equipment (excluding VMS boards), installation of ITS including VMS, CCTV’s and associated civil works, and relocation of existing of CCTV infrastructure.

Major quantities included

3200 m² of excavation
4600 m² of seeding and vegetation works
1100 metres of public services (sewer/water) relocated
1500 metres of telecommunication services installed
11200 metres of service track constructed
440 metres of 2 metre high concrete noise fence installed

Highlights & Outcomes

CMC is proud to continue its close working relationship with TMR (Gold Coast Region) delivering critical infrastructure improvements to the Pacific Motorway in the Mudgeeraba area.
CMC worked closely with the Administrator, Principal and Designer to develop a revised design solution for the reinforced rock access track through the swampy marshland area. The benefit of the solution included finding the local supplier of rock fills meeting the design intent and use of other grades of the geogrids as an alternative to the design thus reducing the lead time of the geogrids.
CMC also proposed and successfully implemented boring for the communication and sewer conduits under Link Way in lieu of trenching thus reducing traffic interactions.
