In August 2015 CMC was awarded one of the first major projects as part of the Peninsular Developmental Road Upgrade Program (PDR), the Mein Deviation Project. The project was located approximately 120 kilometres south east of Weipa and just north of the Archer River Road House. With a focus on Indigenous participation and local participation opportunities, in total 66 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders were employed directly on the project and two Indigenous local businesses subcontracted to.
The scope of works included bulk earthworks (excavation and filling), subgrade works, place, compact and trim overlay and bitumen seal across 29 kilometres of the PDR. Other deliverables include table drains, culvert reinstatement, culvert extensions with new end structures, reinstatement of signage and stabilisation of two floodways.
