CMC constructed 4 kilometres of new road, construction of PSC T-girder rail overpass bridge and abutments, bulk earthwork, pavements, bitumen surfacing, asphalt works, intersection modification, new drainage infrastructure, road lighting and landscaping.

Highlights

Innovation: CMC used a larger crane than required for the PSC girder formation to minimise disruption to motorists travelling on the Capricorn Highway.

Sustainable Impact: CMC sourced 40,000m3 of fill material by widening an existing cutting eliminating 2,000 offsite truck movements.

Collaboration: CMC engaged with Aurizon and other key stakeholders to undertake detailed planning and preparation ensuring girder erection completion with no delays.

Safety: Throughout construction, CMC developed and executed construction methodologies that safely carried out work over the rail line which forms part of the Blackwater system, carrying the second highest tonnage of coal on Aurizon’s network.
