Overview

CMC was contracted by MCRC to construct the Francis Road Rail Overpass above Queensland Rail’s North Coast Line, with the new bridge consisting of pedestrian pathways and bike lanes, providing safer and convenient transport for the community.

CMC’s major works includes construction of a 2-span bridge, RSS walls for bridge approaches, realignment of Lorraine Court, intersection upgrades, and minor realignments and modifications to Gympie Road.

While the project was undertaken for Moreton Bay Regional Council, both Queensland Rail (QR) and the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) were key stakeholders due to the impacts of the work on their key assets of the north coast rail line and Gympie Road respectively.

Highlights

Collaboration: The project team successfully negotiated the work methods and plans with QR and TMR to gain possession of the project site. The relationship between the project team, council, and these key stakeholders throughout was excellent.

Community Engagement: CMC was responsible for community and stakeholder relations management on the project and a key concern for impacted residents was to ensure amenity and privacy on the remaining portions of these properties were not disrupted. CMC prioritised the installation of new permanent boundary fences to address these concerns promptly. The project team also staged works and designed temporary traffic controls to eliminate the need for night and weekend works. This resulted is a strong relationship with the local community and no complaints were received.
