CMC delivered highway restoration works under five separate contracts for the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) across the Western Downs, Southern Downs, Goondiwindi, and Toowoomba Regional Council areas. These works addressed widespread damage caused by severe rainfall and flood events in early 2021.
Spanning more than 500 kilometres of road network, the scope included pavement and seal reconstruction, culvert and scour repairs, debris removal, drain cleaning, batter reinstatement, and replacement of road furniture. Although delivered as construct-only contracts, CMC worked closely with TMR and design consultants to resolve design challenges presented by remote locations and weather impacts.
The five contracts included:
Pavement Design Optimisation: On the Gore Highway, CMC worked with TMR to adapt the original granular pavement design to a deep lift asphalt solution, providing a more durable outcome for high-volume freight traffic between Toowoomba and Millmerran.
Traffic Management: SIDRA-based planning and limited closures minimised delays and maintained network flow.
Environmental & Safety: Achieved zero reportable incidents across all contracts.
