Following major flood events in 2022, CMC was engaged by Clarence Valley Council under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangement (DRFA) to restore Old Glen Innes Road. The project involves remediating 16 major and 45 minor landslips along a remote, winding and narrow road corridor. Key works include slope stabilisation, road reconstruction, geotechnical analysis, environmental restoration, and the installation of gabion walls, rock fill, and drainage structures. CMC is working collaboratively with designers BG&E and geotechnical consultants FSG to develop innovative, durable solutions.
Community Engagement: Close coordination with local residents ensured continuous property access during works. CMC also prioritised engagement with local businesses and subcontractors to maximise regional economic participation.
Cultural Heritage Preservation: Indigenous burial grounds were safeguarded through on-site Cultural Heritage Officers, an MOU with Gumbaynggirr representatives, and the installation of culturally respectful signage.
Efficient Delivery: On track for on-time completion, supported by strategic staging, access planning, and stockpiling methods that enable safe, efficient delivery across constrained and remote sites.
