Bruce Highway Upgrade, Benaraby Overtaking Lanes

CMC was engaged to construct a critical overtaking lane on the Bruce Highway between Benaraby and Rockhampton as part of the Queensland Government’s Bruce Highway Action Plan. The Action Plan was designed to roll out multiple projects that will significantly upgrade the Bruce Highway to bring it ‘out of crisis’ and meet acceptable Australian standards.

Scope

The project included the construction of both north and southbound overtaking lanes involving the widening of the existing highway, construction of a soil nail shotcrete wall to accommodate the new northbound lane, earthworks, pavements (bound and unbound), drainage (trenched, jacked and tunnel bore methods), tensioned wire rope, concrete lined drains and channels, pavement marking and road furniture.

20,000 lts of prime coat bitumen sealing (C170)
78,500 lts of first coat seal (S07S)
330m³ Reinforced Shotcreting
