Engaged by the Department of Transport and Main Roads, CMC is delivering safety upgrades along a 25km section of the Bruce Highway between Marlborough and St Lawrence. The project forms part of TMR’s ongoing investment in improving safety, efficiency and long-term resilience on Queensland’s primary freight corridor.
The scope includes formation widening, pavement rehabilitation and reconstruction, wide centre line treatments, culvert replacements, road furniture upgrades, safety barrier installation, intersection improvements, drainage enhancements and roadside clearing works.
Delivered across five separable portions, the project involves complex staging and traffic management to maintain safe access for road users while construction progresses along the live highway corridor.
Safety: More than 60,500 project hours have been completed with zero LTIs. RPEQ-designed traffic management staging, live service controls, lifting plans and specialist asbestos management procedures have supported safe project delivery.
Environmental Management: Environmental challenges including protected plants, cultural heritage, fish passage requirements and high-risk species management have been successfully managed through permit compliance, fauna spotter-catchers, erosion and sediment controls, and ongoing environmental monitoring.
Community and Local Industry: CMC has exceeded procurement targets, with 67% of suppliers sourced locally or regionally. The project has also supported community initiatives, including contributions to the annual ANZAC Day parade in Marlborough.
