Highlights

Sustainable Impact: Six Mile Creek is an ecological sensitive environment that required careful consideration of the creek’s surroundings and potential impact on the ecosystem. Element Management Plans have been prepared to manage these risks and provide a detailed account of the environmental aspects of the works, objectives/performance standards, control measures and monitoring to minimise and, where possible, prevent environmental impacts.

Problem-Solving: Severe weather events identified in this area include cyclones, thunderstorms, extreme heat. and prolonged rainfall leading to flooding and potential damage to pavements, culverts extensions and property. Prior to mobilisation, early identification and research measures were adopted by CMC to minimise the impact of construction activities, including necessary program adjustments, where practically possible.

Community Engagement: CMC held multiple Community and Stakeholder Liaison meetings with surrounding residents and maintained a positive direct line of communication for the duration of the project.  CMC also engaged with numerous local community members to manage the export and disposal of excess spoil and unsuitable material.

Economic: Many of the subcontractors and suppliers utilised on the project were locally engaged and with a history of working with CMC and the Management Team.
