After previous damages caused by extensive flooding and cyclones Tasha and Anthony, the South Burnett Region experience further damage during the 2013 Australia Day floods. CMCs previously awarded National Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) contract was extended and expanded to include immediate emergent works.
Damage was spread across the entire Council area and works involved mostly sealed and unsealed roads, road drainage reconstruction and floodway reconstruction. This project was the second of two packages undertaken for this client.
Sustainable Impact: All floodway reconstruction and rehabilitation works were carried out in accordance with industry regulations and with zero environmental impacts.
Collaboration: CMC mobilised at short notice to complete emergency restoration works to maintain road safety and restore road access, further fostering a positive relationship and ongoing work opportunities with the South Burnett Regional Council.
Community Engagement: As a gesture of In-Kind Support, CMC constructed a spectator hill for the local Nanango Stars Rugby League Club.
Safety: CMC successfully managed logistics and safety and environmental and compliance documentation across all locations. Crews were set up for a range of differing times and locations, from a day to multiple weeks to multiple sites within a day. The project was completed with more than 127,000-man hours and zero lost time injuries (LTI).
