Overview

In 2023, CMC collaborated with Lismore City Council on the Nimbin Road Landslip Remediation project, addressing critical infrastructure damage from landslides triggered by extensive flooding. The project aimed to restore the vital road link between Lismore and Nimbin, essential for local communities and the tourism sector in the Byron Bay hinterland.

Work involved the extraction of landslide debris, the installation of 500 micro-piles across two significant sites, and the construction of a retaining wall to stabilise the slopes. The micro-piling process, reaching depths of 14 to 15 meters, was crucial in laying a foundation for the retaining structures that supported the road above.

The Nimbin Road part of the project reached completion in December 2023, culminating in the reopening of the road to two-way traffic by State Member for Lismore Janelle Saffin and Mayor Steve Krieg, coinciding with the holiday season.
