Graduate Civil Engineer

Term: Full Time

CMC currently has an opportunity for a Graduate Civil Engineer with 1 to 2 years’ experience to join the Pre-contracts team at our Eagle Farm Head Office for an immediate start.

Working in the Pre-contracts and Estimating team you will gain exposure and experience in understanding:

  • Bid development;
  • Contract Management;
  • Cost Planning;
  • Construction Estimating;
  • Design and Construction methods.

1 to 2 years’ experience working on a similar civil infrastructure project will be highly regarded and successful candidates will possess the following:

  • Civil engineering degree;
  • Civil infrastructure experience in cost engineering/productivity;
  • Be able to work as part of a team that is driven by success;
  • Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Be able to work as part of a team that is driven by success;
  • Sound engineering technical knowledge gained through your study;

Project Engineers & Site Engineers

CMC is currently recruiting Project Engineers and Site Engineers to join the company on various projects in the Central Qld area, with possible FIFO/DIDO opportunities, and an immediate start. We are seeking highly motivated individuals with civil infrastructure experience and a passion for on time and on budget delivery.

Reporting to the Project Manager you will be responsible for your assigned areas costs, daily and weekly project analysis, quality assurance, weekly reporting and assistance with operational performance. You will assist the Project Manager in developing and delivering successful projects while maintaining strong customer relationships and contribute to the successful growth of the CMC business.

As a Project Engineer you will:

  • Be involved in implementing or creating innovative, cost efficient construction methodologies and techniques.
  • Produce construction programs for the project together with Supervisors and Superintendents.
  • Continuous monitoring of program throughout the life of the project ensuring milestones are completed on time.
  • In conjunction with Superintendents and Supervisors, planning the resources required to achieve the construction program (plant, labour and subcontractors) and sourcing.
  • Planning and implementing the procurement of materials and subcontractors to achieve construction programs.
  • Working with Supervisors to recognise variations, quantity increases or decrease and any additional scope of works to produce appropriate variation correspondence.
  • Monitoring day costs for activities and adjusting if unit costs are excessive.
  • Preparation and analysis of end of month project costs report with Project Manager.
  • Monitor environmental controls where the risk to the environment is serious enough to require monitoring.

Successful candidates will possess the following:

  • Civil Engineering degree
  • Min 3+ years experience in cost engineering/productivity
  • Experience on previous DTMR/roads and civil infrastructure projects will be highly regarded
  • Be able to work as part of a team that is driven by success
  • Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound technical knowledge
  • Be self motivated and adaptable with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Be willing to travel and work away from home when required.

As a Site Engineer you will:

  • Be involved in implementing or creating innovative, cost efficient construction methodologies and techniques.
  • Working actively with Supervisors and workforce to eliminate the requirement to do activities again.
  • Assist the Superintendent and Supervisor with tasks delegated by the Project Engineer/Manager.
  • Continuous monitoring of program throughout the life of the project ensuring milestones are completed on time.
  • In conjunction with Superintendents and Supervisors, assist with planning the resources required to achieve the construction program (plant, labour and subcontractors) and sourcing.
  • Assist with planning and implementing the procurement of materials and subcontractors to achieve construction programs.
  • Working with Supervisors to recognise variations, quantity increases or decrease and any additional scope of works for the production of appropriate variation correspondence.
  • Monitoring day costs for activities with Supervisors and making adjustments if unit costs are excessive.

As the Project Manager you will be responsible for the overall governance of your project including OHS, HR/Employee Relations, cost control, project analysis and weekly reporting. You will lead the successful delivery of your project whilst maintaining strong client relationships and contribute to the successful growth of the CMC business.

The successful candidates will be responsible for and possess the following:

  • Civil Engineering Degree;
  • Have a proven ability to deliver successful projects within the roads and civil infrastructure sector;
  • A minimum of 5 years project management experience on DTMR projects;
  • Demonstrated ability of a strong working relationship with various clients;
  • Provide input for tender reviews, EOI’s and contractual negotiations;
  • Ability to relate and work closely with all levels of staff within the organisation;
  • Have excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
