The Princes Highway Upgrade, Termeil Creek formed part of TfNSW’s vision to deliver modern highway standards across its existing network. The project involved extensive environmental controls due to adjacent protected areas that contained endangered ecological communities and high risk acid sulfate soils.
CMC’s scope of work included realignment of a 1.6-kilometre section of the Princes Highway and the replacement of the existing Termeil Creek bridge with a modern three-span bridge capable of handling a 1:100-year flood level.
Environmental: Environmental features and controls included nesting boxes and frog fencing to protect the Green and Golden Bell Frog, over and under fauna crossings including glider poles and rope bridges, and the construction of sediment basins. CMC also successfully relocated six Sugar Gliders and one Greater Glider.
Safety: CMC reduced significant risks to personnel and motorists by installing a temporary bridge during the project, identified as being a safer and more cost-effective option
Sustainable Impact: Felled timber due to works were salvaged for milling or mulching and re-use.
Collaboration: The project fostered positive client, stakeholder, and community relationships, supported by transparency and open consultation. Strong community relationships resulted in strong engagement and no complaints.
