The Gladstone to Yarwun Interconnect pipeline was constructed in 2016 and includes sections of the old Asbestos Cement (AC) pipeline between Curtis Island Pump Station and WICET off take.
The Calliope River Anabranch Bridge Pipeline Renewal project restored the AC section of the pipeline and maintained a sustainable connection between GAWB’s water treatment plants.
Sustainable Impact: CMC encountered no environmental issues from water discharges.
Problem-Solving: A strong relationship with the client was maintained throughout the project despite substantial redesign of supports and abutment fixings including pipe lengths and flanges due to design errors.
Collaboration: Careful programming and planning was conducted to coordinate bridge approvals, traffic control, and key specialist subcontractors for this project.
Economic: CMC reopened the watermain ahead of schedule, enabling GAWB to resupply water to clients earlier than initially advertised.
