The much-needed upgrade of the waste transfer station facilities not only provide better safety and access for the public, but the upgrade also allowed costs savings to NBRC by facilitating easy collection and transport of the region’s waste to the much larger operation at Mundubbera.

The scope of works included clearing and removal of trees, landfill capping, gravel pavement placement, Waste Station construction, desilting of existing drainage channels, installation of new drainage, relocation of waste facility site offices and structures, drum muster relocation, and permanent signage.

Highlights

Economic: CMC worked closely with the council to provide the best ‘bang for their buck’ outcomes by working with existing materials, engaging several local contractors to assist with the works, and limiting the disruption to the public.
