The Bruce Highway is the main coastal arterial road connecting Queensland and is heavily used by freight, tourists and local communities. This project was the third construction package in Section B (Sankeys Road to Traveston Road) and was awarded to the Synergy Joint Venture, with CMC as the lead joint venture partner.
Package 3 primarily involved completion of pavement works to the majority of the new 12 kilometre Bruce Highway alignment, three new bridges including embankment approaches, realignment of Coles Creek Road, stabilised pavements, deep lift asphalt, traffic management, services relocations, clearing and grubbing, finishing works to drains and drainage structures, road furniture, street lighting, landscaping and ITS.
Innovation: CMC delivered innovative construction methodologies saving TMR $2.1 million and executed $8 million in scope variations with no extension of time. Methodologies incorporated by CMC included:
Collaboration: CMC established relationship and project governance charter with TMR delivering best for project outcomes. The project was also delivered one month early and 24 percent under original TMR budget.
