CMC recently hosted an alignment session with key stakeholders as the Tweed Landslip Remediation projects reached their halfway point. This Collaborative Design and Construct Contract, in partnership with Tweed Shire Council, BG&E, and FSG Geotechnics & Foundations, involves the cleanup, restoration, and reinstatement of four major landslips around Uki for the Tweed Shire Council, addressing damage from the 2022 natural disaster event. The works are jointly funded by the Australian and NSW government Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
Project Manager Adon Dinsmore led the session with Max Gregori (BG&E National Lead – Emergency & Disaster Recovery) and Adam Kemp (FSG Principal Geotechnical Engineer), along with their teams. Discussions focused on construction tolerances, design methodology, real-time constructability decisions, information sharing, and communication protocols.
A highlight of the day was a site visit with Tweed Shire representatives, Brad Turner and Jeff Simmons. This invaluable opportunity allowed designers, constructors, and end users to walk the site extensively, discussing real-life matters and facilitating the transfer of knowledge from design intent to construction. For designers, it was a rare chance to see their work come to life, while constructors could explain challenges and triumphs encountered on site.
Our collaborative approach and effective communication strategies are setting a benchmark for future projects. The insights gained from this session will enhance future collaborations and partnerships.
