Capricorn Highway – Gogango Intersection Upgrade

CMC awarded Central Queensland's Capricorn Highway Intersection Upgrade at Gogango

Contract Value: $2.1M
Client: Sunwater Ltd
Project Commencement: January 2020
Estimate Completion: June 2020

The Capricorn Highway – Gogango Intersection Upgrade is part of Sunwater’s landmark Rookwood Weir Project.

Located approximately 65km west of Rockhampton, this project provides an intersection upgrade achieving ‘improved safety and line of sight’ for traffic turning off the Capricorn Highway into Gogango at Third Street, leading to Second Street and Riverslea Road.

These works will deliver the road and bridge infrastructure required to provide safe access for earth-moving machinery and construction vehicles to travel to the site. These important works need to be completed before construction can commence to build the new weir.

Works include the relocation of the intersection approximately 200m further west and widening the pavement to allow for a new intersection layout with sheltered turning lanes and auxiliary lanes as well as upgrades to the local road network through Gogango. Construction activities include:

  • Pavement widening
  • Minor earthworks (cut, fill)
  • Drainage
  • Pavement construction
  • Bitumen sealing
  • Asphalt
  • Line marking
  • Road lighting
