Calliope River Anabranch Bridge Pipeline Renewal

CMC have recently been awarded the Calliope River Anabranch Bridge Pipeline Renewal Project.

The Gladstone to Yarwun Interconnect pipeline was constructed in 2016 and includes sections of the old Asbestos Cement (AC) pipeline between Curtis Island Pump Station and WICET off take.  This Calliope River Anabranch Bridge Pipeline Renewal project aims to restore the AC section of the pipeline and maintain a sustainable connection between GAWBs water treatment plants.

The site is located on the eastern side of the Calliope River Anabranch Bridge on Gladstone – Mt Larcom Road and will involve:

  • Site preparation and investigation of underground and above-ground services
  • Earthworks removal and stockpile of cleared material
  • Demolition and removal of existing asbestos water mains and pipe support systems
  • Scouring and de-chlorination of treated water from the existing water main
  • Refurbishment and replacements of existing cast-in anchor bolts
  • Supply and installation of structural supports including installation of 24 meter long sections of pipes
