Project Complete: Cunningham Highway Safety Upgrades

CMC is proud to announce the successful completion of the Cunningham Highway (Warwick–Inglewood) Safety Upgrades, delivered for the Department of Transport and Main Roads as part of the High Risk Roads Program. This vital project enhances safety along one of Queensland’s key freight and commuter corridors, linking Goondiwindi to the Southern Downs.

Despite a challenging wet winter and the complexities of working within a live traffic environment, our team delivered the project one month ahead of schedule through strong collaboration and detailed planning. A key hurdle was managing high-risk sealing during Warwick’s winter conditions, which we overcame by working closely with TMR to redesign the seal specification ensuring durability, performance, and program continuity.

The works included intersection upgrades to improve traffic flow and visibility, pavement widening and resurfacing for safer overtaking and durability, installation of new guardrails with motorcycle protection, drainage improvements, upgraded road furniture, and solar-powered flag lighting to enhance night-time safety.

A huge thank you to our dedicated crews, subcontractors, and project partners for your effort and teamwork. Together, we’ve delivered a safer, smarter road network for the Southern Downs region.
