The Tyrrell Street Bridge Replacement project was the first step in alleviating the suburb’s significant flood mitigation problems.
Construction included demolition of the existing bridge and construction of a two-span, two‑lane prestressed concrete plank road and pedestrian bridge, including adjacent road works, ancillary stormwater, and utility adjustments.
The project resulted in an increase of the hydraulic performance of Tyrrell St Bridge, improved flood management, reduced road closures, and improved road safety and driving conditions.
