CMC was contracted under the National Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangement (NDRRA) scheme to carry out extensive restoration works to North Burnett Regional Council infrastructure that was damaged during ex-cyclone Oswald. Works were split across a north and south package. The north package covered a significant area including Monal, Mungungo, Kalpower, Mulgildie, Eidsvold, and Mount Perry.
Within the north package, CMC delivered a range of major and minor works including drainage cleanout, erosion protection, replacement of damaged pipes and culverts, guardrail and signage replacement, pavement reconstruction and rehabilitation of sealed and unsealed roads, floodway and apron reconstruction, bitumen seals and asphalt overlays.
Problem Solving: Without extending the contract completion date, CMC undertook $4.5 million in additional scope to meet NDRRA funding arrangements.
Community Engagement: CMC sponsored the Monto State High School volleyball team, enabling them to travel to Melbourne to compete in the National Schools Championship.
Economic: CMC’s project provided economic benefits to the local community through sponsorships and prioritised the engagement of local subcontractors, employees and suppliers. As well as this, over $2.2 million was added into the Monto district economy through rental properties and consumer spending.
Safety: A peak labour force of 250 completed over 200,000 hours of man work lost time injuries (LTI) free.
