Francis Road Rail Overpass
Construction of the Francis Road Rail Overpass above the North Coast Line connects Francis Road with Gympie Road and Youngs Crossing Road.
The four lane rail overpass with pedestrian pathways and bike lanes, provides a safer and more convenient route for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists, and improves traffic flows around Lawnton station.
Major works included construction of a 2-span bridge over Queensland Rail’s North Coast Line, RSS walls for bridge approaches, realignment of Lorraine Court around the eastern approach embankment, intersection upgrades, a minor realignment and modifications to Gympie Road – a major road in Brisbane’s northern suburbs. The new signalised intersection to Gympie Road was constructed under live traffic including widening for auxiliary turn lanes.
CMC engaged and communicated with a number of project stakeholders including staging and traffic management logistics with Transport and Main Roads; detailed coordination with Queensland Rail to construct the majority of the bridge within scheduled track closures; and the local community including adjacent tenants.
