This project is a combined bridge and roadworks project for Port of Bundaberg which was owned and operated by Port of Brisbane Corporation. The project links Bundaberg Port Marina with the community and businesses in Burnett Heads, and halves the distance between the two points.
The new bridge (including pedestrian walkway) and roadworks will benefit residents, create new commercial opportunities for local businesses, improve traffic flows, and provide better access to the foreshore for tourists and visitors to the city.
The project involved construction of a five-span bridge with cast insitu substructure on 27 metre long spliced PSC piles and PSC deck units. The superstructure included cast insitu concrete barrier and stainless steel hand railing. The majority of works were constructed on previously reclaimed land, with bridgeworks undertaken within a highly sensitive tidal saltwater creek and mangrove area.
