Isaac Regional Council NDRRA Flood Restoration Works

CMC was awarded this Isaac Regional Council NDRRA Flood Restoration Program, for road repair works following several NDRRA events during November 2010 and March 2012 including flooding, monsoonal rains and Cyclone Tasha, Anthony and Yasi.


Construction works were spread across 800 kilometers from east to west and delivered in three work packages East Works Package 1, West Works Package 2 and North Works Package.

The scope included:

  • 310┬ákilometres of gravel road resheeting
  • 60,000┬ám2 road / pothole patching & repairs
  • In-situ stabilised pavement works
  • Culvert clearing and repairs
  • Asphalt resurfacing
  • Drainage repair including rock and concrete protection
  • 20┬ákilometres of sealed road reconstruction
  • Floodway concrete repairs
  • Pavement overlays and sealing

Highlights and Outcomes

  • At its peak CMC’s Project Team successfully managed a workforce of up to 17 construction crews at times up to 800 kilometres apart.
  • The project team successfully rehabilitated approximately 3000 flood caused defects over 42 regional roads.
  • CMC maximised local employment and business engagement, where local expenditure was approximately.
