Capricorn Highway – Gogango Intersection Upgrade

This early works intersection upgrade was delivered as part of the $367M Rookwood Weir project to capture water in the lower Fitzroy River for agricultural, industry and community use in the Central Queensland.

Scope

This early works intersection upgrade was delivered as part of the $367M Rookwood Weir project to capture water in the lower Fitzroy River for agricultural, industry and community use in the Central Queensland.

This project provides an intersection upgrade for ‘improved safety and line of sight’ for traffic turning off the Capricorn Highway into Gogango at Third Street, leading to Second Street and Riverslea Road and includes an upgrade of local roads throughout the township of Gogango, approximately 65 km west of Rockhampton.

 

Works include the relocation of the intersection approximately 200m west and widening the pavement to allow for a new intersection layout with sheltered turning lanes and auxiliary lanes as well as upgrades to the local road network through Gogango.

The works included both Department of Main Roads and Local Government jurisdictions, specifications and stakeholders

Construction activities included, pavement widening, minor earthworks, drainage, pavement construction, bitumen sealing, asphalt, line marking and road lighting.
