Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal – GC09
CMC was engaged to undertake the GC09 bulk earthworks and civil works south of Hanson Road contract as part of the Stage 1 works to develop Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal (WICET). The various contract packages for the terminal were vertically separated, and CMC ensured subsequent contractors were not delayed in commencing their works.
Located approximately 12 kilometres north-west of Gladstone, Stage 1 provides Port of Gladstone with an export capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum.
The GC09 construction package was broken into five key areas: overland conveyor earthworks and pavements; reclamation Area C dredge bunds; Reid Road upgrade; rail receival access civil works; and rail receival bulk earthworks.
