CMC has recently been awarded the Nerang-Broadbeach Road Upgrade (Gooding Drive Roundabout) project.
This project is to separate through and turning lanes with the addition of a third lane on Gooding Drive (east).
This will include extending the left turn slip lane from Nerang-Broadbeach road (south) onto Gooding Drive (east).
Works will provide a new free-flow slip lane for northbound traffic turning left from Gooding Drive (west) onto Nerang-Broadbeach Road.
Works included in the project is to provide partial signalisation on Gooding Drive (east) and Robina Parkway (north) for vehicles entering the roundabout and new line marking and signage to improve driver ease.
The key benefits of this upgrade include:
- Improved traffic flow
- Higher capacity
- Provide overall network benefits
- Pedestrian and cyclist connections improved
- Accommodate additional traffic on Nerang-Broadbeach Road (anticipated during the 2018 Commonwealth Games)
Works were to commence in April 2017 for completion in September 2017 but due to resumptions the project has been delayed, now commencing 5 June 2017.
However, CMC will undertake flood repair works for the Department of Transport and Main Roads – Gold Coast on the Pine Creek road with the project team.
